CFP: II Congreso Internacional del CELPYC (New York, 9-11 of June 2022)

I was sure I had already published this information, but it seems that I was wrong: the 2nd International Congress of the CELPYC (Círculo de Estudios de la LIteratura Picaresca y Celestinesca) –the first in person– will take place at The City College University of New York the days 9, 10 and 11 of June of 2022.

Despite my mistake, the good news are that the call for proposals is still open –and will be– until the 15th of February 2022. That is still three weeks of time to submit your proposals, so, what are you waiting for!

This call is open to proposals on any aspect of celestinesque and picaresque literature in any of the following formats: paper proposal, roundtable proposal and panel proposal. All submissions are made via an online form, but there are individual procedures for submitting to panels looking for participants, which can be read here. Be careful! Some of these panels have their own deadlines, so that you should be checking their particular conditions.

CFP: I International Congress of the CELPYC (3rd-5th of June 2020, The City College University of New York)

In March 2019 I announced the establishment of a new professional association of celestinesque interest, the Círculo de Estudios de la Literatura Picaresca y Celestinesca (CELPYC).

Now it is organising its first international congress for June 2020, at the City College University of New York, and has published a call for papers open to everyone interested in Celestina and the picaresque. Proposals for individual papers, panels and roundtables can be sent via the on-line form until the 1st of March 2020.

New Professional Association: Círculo de Estudios de la Literatura Picaresca y Celestinesca (CELPYC)

logo_cuadrado_azulResearchers of picaresque and celestinesque literature are welcoming a new professional association these days: the Círculo de Estudios de la Literatura Picaresca y Celestinesca (CELPYC).

Primarily aimed at organising an international congress every three years, its first congress is scheduled for the 3rd, 4th and 5th of June of 2020 at The City College University of New York (CUNY).

Following the official announcement of the congress, the CELPYC has started its on-line presence with a Twitter profile and, more significantly, a Facebook group open to researchers and people with interest in celestinesque and picaresque literature. Its aim is to function as a meeting point for sharing, discussing and disseminating informations of celestinesque and picaresque interest, but also as an informal professional and personal network.

There is a traditional official website as well. Besides information on the congress, the most interesting bit probably is its on-line resources section. Not just because this blog is listed among the resources of celestinesque interest –thanks a lot!–, but because there is a will to gather together all the picaresque and celestinesque on-line resources relevant to a professional and a non-professional audience. And we are really eager to see how many they can get together.

In this blog, it is always good news that something is being done to encourage the study of Celestina, so that we can only wish the CELPYC a sucessful first congress and a good start.
